Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 37-year-old Reginald J. Jordan of Buffalo was arraigned on Sunday morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Barbara Johnson-Lee on one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony).
It is alleged that on September 20, 2019, at approximately 8:50 p.m., first responders went to an apartment on Grote Street in the City of Buffalo for a report of an infant that was not breathing. The child, 6-month-old King Jordan, was taken to Oishei Children's Hospital where he died two days later. The defendant, the child’s father, is accused of shaking the baby and causing blunt force injuries to the child’s head and neck, which resulted in his death.
Jordan is scheduled to return on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. He was held without bail.
If convicted of the charge, Jordan faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
DA Flynn commends Detectives Scott Malec and Mark White as well as late Detective Sgt. James Dunham of the Buffalo Police Department for their work in the investigation.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine M. Garvey of the DA’s Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
