Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 51-year-old Bridget M. Mitchell of Buffalo was sentenced this morning before State Supreme Court Judge Paul B. Wojtaszek to three years of probation.

The defendant admitted to stealing a total of $15,966.07 while employed as a supervisor for a non-profit organization in the Town of Lancaster. The theft was discovered after the defendant diverted a $13,000 check, designated for the non-profit, to herself and deposited the money into her personal bank account. During the investigation, it was uncovered that the defendant had also diverted a $1,200.00 stimulus check, designated to a resident of the facility, to her personal bank account.

Mitchell pleaded guilty to two counts of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (Class “E” felonies) on April 14, 2021. She paid full restitution to the non-profit organization and the victim at her sentencing today. 

DA Flynn commends Detective Robert Cornell from the Lancaster Police Department for his work in the investigation.  

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Brian P. Dassero of the Special Investigations and Prosecutions (SIP) Bureau.
