Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 44-year-old Scott Schaefer of Getzville has pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski to Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors in the Second Degree. 

The former science teacher at St. Gregory the Great School in Williamsville admitted sending sexually explicit texts to a 12-year-old between June 9-11, 2017. 

Schaefer was immediately terminated by the school. 

Schaefer faces 1 1/3 -4 years in prison when he is sentenced by Justice Michalski on November 17, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. 

Schaefer was released on $50,000 bond and was ordered to stay away from minors. 

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of the Amherst Police Department, including Detectives James Doane, Mark Pitirri, Lt. August Canna, Ronald Smith and Edward Solek. 

Chief Rosanne E. Johnson of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau prosecuted the case.
