Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that a jury has found 27-year-old Gregory Ramos (aka “Prospect”) of Buffalo guilty of Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree for his role in the murder of an Anchor Bar employee.

On May 20, 2016, the defendant and Jorge Suarez, 27, of Buffalo, drove to the Anchor Bar on Main Street in the City of Buffalo. Suarez entered the back of the restaurant and fatally shot Freddie Dizon, 32, of Buffalo. Ramos drove Suarez to the restaurant and away from the scene of the crime.

In December 2017, Suarez, who was convicted of Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison by former Erie County Court Judge Thomas P. Francyzk.

Ramos faces 25 years to life when he is sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns on Tuesday, July 17 at 9:30 a.m.

“If you are an accomplice to any crime, you can be charged,” said DA Flynn. “Our Assistant District Attorneys brought in 35 witnesses and 150 pieces of evidence to put this puzzle together and prove that Mr. Ramos was the get-away driver in this heinous crime.”

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department and the Niagara Falls Police Department for their thorough investigative work.

The case was prosecuted by John P. Feroleto, Chief of the DA’s Felony Trials Bureau, Assistant District Attorney Ashley M. Morgan of the DA’s Tactical Prosecution Unit, and Assistant District Attorney Colin X. Fitzgerald of the DA’s Justice Courts.
