The Erie County District Attorney’s Office announces that 30-year-old Shane Heisler of Hamburg has been arraigned in West Seneca Town Court on the felony charge of Vehicular Manslaughter in the Second Degree.

On July 16, 2016 at 1 p.m., Heisler was driving his vehicle on Union Road in the Town of West  Seneca  when it is alleged that he drove into the oncoming lanes of traffic and struck a vehicle being driven by 65-year-old Ronald Heiss.

Riding in Heiss' vehicle were his wife Diane Heiss and 71 year-old Barbara Guenther of West Seneca, a rear seat passenger. Guenther died as a result of injuries from the accident.

The people in the Heiss car were on their way to a wedding when the crash happened.

Heisler pleaded not guilty and will be back in West Seneca court on September 2 9:00 a.m. for a felony hearing.

Judge Filbert set bail in the amount of $15,000 cash/$25,000 bond.

Acting DA Flaherty commends the Town of West Seneca Police Department for its investigative work.

Assistant District Attorney Robin J. Deubler is prosecuting the case.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
