Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces State Supreme Court Justice Mark A. Montour has found 47-year-old Montu Lighten of Cheektowaga guilty of two counts of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, Class “A” misdemeanor charges, following a two-day bench trial.

On two separate occasions, the defendant violated an order of protection issued on behalf of the victim in a domestic violence case. The defendant placed phone calls to the victim from jail on November 7, 2018 and November 18, 2018.

Lighten faces a maximum of 2 years in jail when he is sentenced on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. The defendant remains held without bail.

DA Flynn commends Deputy John Healy of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office and Officer Bryan Lavey of the City of Tonawanda Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Gina M. Gramaglia of the DA’s Domestic Violence Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Justin H. Caldwell of the DA’s City Court Bureau.
