Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 34-year-old Krystal Rains of Kenmore pleaded guilty before Erie County Court Judge Michael Pietruszka to six counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the First Degree, one count of Possession of a Forged Device and one count of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree.

The defendant admitted to forging $20 Federal Reserve Notes to make purchases at Walmart, Home Depot and CVS. A search warrant executed at the defendant’s home uncovered templates and other tools used to make counterfeit bills.

Rains is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, April 17. She faces a maximum of 90 years in prison.

DA Flynn commends investigative work by the Amherst Police Department and the United States Secret Service.
