Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 52-year-old William R. Leonard of West Seneca pleaded guilty before Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi to one count of Official Misconduct, a Class “A” misdemeanor.

The defendant admitted that while living in the Town of West Seneca, he served as 3^rd Ward Councilman in the City of Lackawanna. The defendant resigned from his position effective October 31, 2018.

Leonard faces a maximum of 1 year in jail when he is sentenced on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. 

“I am committed to investigating, and if necessary prosecuting, any public official in an effort to crackdown on corruption and to restore the public’s faith in our elected leaders,” said DA Flynn.

DA Flynn commends Investigator Andre Dunlop of the New York State Police Special Investigations Unit for his work in this case.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Gary M. Ertel of the DA’s Public Integrity Unit.
