Owner Pleads Guilty to Child Endangerment for Dog Attack on Toddler

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 30-year-old Amber Lewis of Buffalo pleaded guilty, as charged, before Buffalo City Court Judge Kevin J. Keane on one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class “A” misdemeanor. The defendant pleaded guilty on Friday, April 5, 2019.

On January 13, 2019, at approximately 4 p.m., the defendant’s dog attacked a 13-month-old female child inside a home on the 300 block of Watson Street in the City of Buffalo. The toddler was hospitalized for the injuries she suffered to her head, face and stomach.

Lewis faces up to one year in jail when she is sentenced on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. She was released on her own recognizance.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Anthony M. Rossi of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau.
