Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 24-year-old Kenneth Jefferson of Buffalo has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns to a determinate sentence of 6 years in prison followed by 3 years of post-release supervision. The defendant was sentenced as a prior violent felony offender.

On February 6, 2018, Amherst Police narcotics officers executed a search warrant at a motel room on Maple Road. Once inside, officers found 136 bags of fentanyl, packaged to sell, inside the TV stand. The defendant, who was found asleep in the bed, admitted to owning the drugs and confirmed the motel room was rented in his name.

Jefferson pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a class “B” felony, in August 2018.

Jefferson also pleaded guilty to an unrelated charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, a class “C” felony. This charge arose from a traffic stop in the Town of Aurora on October 8, 2017. Officers found more than 1/8 ounce of cocaine hidden in the defendant’s waistband. The defendant received a determinate sentence of 3 ½ years in prison followed by 3 years of post-release supervision, which he will serve concurrently to his sentence on the Class “B” felony.
