Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn joins the Lancaster Police Department and Crime Stoppers Buffalo in requesting any information to help solve a cold case from 1982.
The Lancaster Police Department has offered $10,000 combined with up to $1,000 from Crime Stoppers Buffalo for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person (s) responsible for the murder of James Adamski.
“Despite the years that have passed, we believe someone here in Western New York or beyond knows something that can help us solve this case once and for all,” says Chief Gerald J. Gill. “We are hopeful that this reward is an incentive to come forward.”
“Almost 35 years after the death of James Adamski, his killer still walks free,” says DA Flynn. “This young man’s life was taken and his family has been waiting for answers far too long. My office supports any effort to give them the justice they deserve.”
In the early morning hours of October 31, 1982, 18-year-old James Adamski of View Court in Cheektowaga, was last seen during a Halloween party at a bar known as the 5&23 which was located on Transit Road just north of Walden Ave.
When James left the bar, he walked down Transit Road heading in a southerly direction. The body of James was located in Lancaster off Ransom Road in a ditch on December 26, 1982. James died from head trauma.
“At Crime Stoppers Buffalo, we are always interested in providing reward money with the hope of getting the information needed for a conviction,” says Crime Stoppers Buffalo Chairman Kevin Hoffman. “Whether it’s a recent or a cold case, we will assist law enforcement in any way we can.”
