Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 28-year-old Travis J. Zukic of Cheektowaga has been virtually arraigned before Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi on an indictment charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree and one count of Attempted Murder in the First Degree, both Class “A-1” felonies.

It is alleged that on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the defendant shot a female employee as she was working at a 7-Eleven store on French Road in the Town of Cheektowaga. The victim, 23-year-old Hannah E. Morse, was taken to ECMC where she died.

It is further alleged that when a Cheektowaga police officer entered the store to investigate, the defendant fired a shot toward the officer. The officer was unharmed.

Zukic is scheduled to return on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. for a pre-trial conference. He remains held without bail.  

If convicted on the charges, he faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.  

DA Flynn commends the Cheektowaga Police Department for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Patrick Shanahan and Gina M. Gramaglia.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
