Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 53-year-old Monica Lalley of Buffalo was arraigned this afternoon before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan on an indictment charging her with the following offenses:

• One count of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (Class “E” felony)
• Two counts of Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree (Class “E” felonies)
• One count of Official Misconduct (Class “A” misdemeanor)

It is alleged that between March 23, 2020 and April 30, 2020, the defendant, while working as a report technician for the Buffalo Police Department, intentionally falsified her own payroll entries. The defendant is accused of fraudulently collecting $1,031.00 in overtime pay. She was suspended from her position after the alleged theft was uncovered.

Lalley was released on her own recognizance as the charges are non-qualifying for bail. A return court date has not been scheduled at this time.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Gary M. Ertel of the Public Integrity Unit.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
