Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 18-year-old Ziaire Davis of Buffalo pleaded guilty before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan to one count of Assault in the First Degree, a Class “B” violent felony. The defendant pleaded guilty to the highest charge in the indictment against him.

The defendant admitted to injuring his 2-month-old daughter on or about September 25, 2017 and October 7, 2017 at a home on Abbott Road in the City of Buffalo. The child continues to recover, but still suffers from the effects of the injuries she sustained.

Davis is eligible for youthful offender status due to his age at the time of the incidents. If granted youthful offender status, he would face a maximum of 4 years in prison when he is sentenced on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.

DA Flynn commends Homicide Detectives Antonio Borrelli, William Cooley, and John Garcia as well as Lt. Brian Britzzalaro for their work in the investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Rosanne E. Johnson, Chief of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau, and Bethany A. Solek of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau.
