West Seneca Man Arrested for Stabbing Girlfriend

 Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 35-year-old Michael C. Slawatycki of West Seneca has been arraigned before West Seneca Town Court Justice Jeffrey M. Harrington, on one count of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class “D” violent felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a Class “D” felony, one count of Resisting Arrest, a Class “A” misdemeanor, and two counts of Harassment in the Second Degree, violations.  The defendant was arraigned on the evening of Tuesday, April 14, 2020.

It is alleged that on April 14, 2020, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the defendant stabbed his girlfriend multiple times in the upper apartment of a home on Clinton Street in the Town of West Seneca. The female victim was taken to ECMC with non-life threatening injuries.

When officers responded to the scene, they allegedly found Slawatycki in the backyard. He was also taken to ECMC to be treated for multiple, non-life threatening stab wounds.

Slawatycki is scheduled to return on Monday, April 20, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. He remains held on $75,000 bail.  

If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 7 years in prison.

DA Flynn commends the West Seneca Police Department for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Chief Holly Tucker of the DA’s Domestic Violence Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
