Blasdell Man Sent to State Prison for Sexually Abusing Child Victims

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 22-year-old Johnny Castro, III of Blasdell has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski to 2 years in prison followed by 10 years of post-release supervision. He will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

Between November 19, 2013 and October 18, 2016, the defendant subjected a juvenile male less than eleven years old to sexual contact. Between September 21, 2014 and December 31, 2014, he subjected a juvenile female less than fourteen years old to sexual contact.

Castro pleaded guilty to one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a Class “D” violent felony, and one count of Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, a Class “A” misdemeanor, on October 29, 2019. The defendant pleaded guilty to the highest charge. 

DA Flynn commends Detective Jeffrey Banes of the Buffalo Police Department Sex Offense Squad for his work in this investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Katharine S. Lavin of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau.
