Buffalo Man Admits to Attempted Criminal Sex Act

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 54-year-old Robert Blaszyk of Buffalo pleaded guilty before Acting Erie County Court Judge James A. W. McLeod to one count of Attempted Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, a Class “C” violent felony. The defendant pleaded guilty on Friday, April 26, 2019.

The defendant admitted that on April 14, 2018, he attempted to engage in sexual conduct with an adult female victim while she was incapable of consent by reason of being asleep while at a location in the City of Buffalo.

Blaszyk faces a maximum 15 years in prison when he is sentenced on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. The defendant was held on $40,000 cash or property.

DA Flynn commends Detective Julie Ledwin of the Buffalo Police Department Sex Offense Squad for her work in the investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Meghan E. Leydecker of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau.
