Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 24-year-old Julian Williamson of Buffalo pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to one count of Attempted Rape in the First Degree, a Class “C” violent felony. The defendant pleaded guilty on Friday, April 12, 2019.

The defendant admitted that on August 11, 2016, at approximately 2:00 a.m., he attempted to engage in sexual intercourse with an adult female victim by forcible compulsion in the vicinity of Genesee Street and Michigan Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The defendant was not known to the victim.

Williamson faces a maximum of 15 years in prison followed by 20 years of post-release supervision when he is sentenced on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.

DA Flynn commends Detective Melanie Janusz of the Buffalo Police Department Sex Offense Squad for her work in the investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Katharine S. Lavin of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau.
