Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 20-year-old Daiquan A. Busby of Buffalo was arraigned yesterday morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Andrew C. LoTempio on one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree (Class “B” violent felony).

It is alleged that on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the defendant, with the intent to cause serious physical injuries to another person, assaulted the victim on the 100 block of Rodney Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The victim, a 25-year-old male, was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he died from injuries to his head.

Busby is scheduled to return on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. He was held without bail.

If convicted of the highest charge, Busby faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department for their work in this investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rebecca L. Schnirel of the Homicide Unit.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
