Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 23-year-old Dominic Vereen of Buffalo has been arraigned before State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns on one count of Murder in the Second Degree.

It is alleged that on June 21, 2018, the defendant fatally shot 24-year-old Dennis Thompson inside a home on Wright Avenue in the City of Buffalo.

Vereen is scheduled to return on August 15 at 9:30 a.m. for a pre-trial conference. He remains remanded without bail.

If convicted on all charges, Vereen faces up to 25 years to life in prison.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of Detective Christopher Sterlace, Detective Terry Supples and Detective Mark White of the Buffalo Police Department.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine M. Garvey of the DA’s Homicide Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
