Buffalo Man Pleads Guilty to All Charges for Killing Teenager in Reckless Shooting Inside of His Home

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 21-year-old Kel Leed D. Alexander of Buffalo pleaded guilty this afternoon before Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio to one count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree (Class “C” felony) and one count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class “E” felony). The defendant pleaded guilty to all charges in the indictment against him.

On Friday, March 4, 2022, at approximately 7:50 p.m., the defendant recklessly caused the death of a 16-year-old male by firing a single shot from an illegal handgun, which hit the victim on the left side of the head. The incident occurred inside of the defendant’s residence on Fisher Street in the City of Buffalo.

Alexander faces a maximum of 15 years in prison when he is sentenced on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. He was remanded pending sentence.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work in this investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Nicholas C. Bussi of the Felony Trials Bureau.
