Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty, Jr. announces that 44-year old Michael Greer, aka “Peanut” of 254 Orange Street in Buffalo has pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree before Erie County Court Judge Sheila DiTullio. 

On September 10, 2015, at about 10:30 p.m., while in his home at 254 Orange Street, Michael Greer fatally shot his friend, 33-year old Michael Atkins of Buffalo during an argument while celebrating Greer’s birthday. 

Greer faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on May 26, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. before Judge Di Tullio. 

Acting DA Flaherty credits Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives James Kaska, Brendan Kiefer and Patricia Wrest for their thorough investigative work. 

Assistant District Attorney Gary W. Hackbush prosecuted the case.
