Buffalo Man Sentenced for Murdering Two Victims in Separate Homicides in the City of Buffalo

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 20-year-old Calvin D. Clemons of Buffalo was sentenced this morning before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan to 35 years to life in prison.

On December 24, 2020, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the defendant intentionally shot the victim with an illegal weapon. The victim, 17-year-old Felix Aguirre of Buffalo, was sitting inside of a parked vehicle on Liddell Street in the City of Buffalo when he was fatally injured. He died at the scene.

Clemons pleaded guilty to one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony). Today, he received an indeterminate sentence of 15 years to life for the crime.

On March 29, 2021, at approximately 8:13 p.m., the defendant, while acting in concert with another individual, stole the victim’s backpack. During the course of the robbery, the victim was shot in the leg, chest and side of his body. The victim, 20-year-old Trenten Jacob Sink of Lockport, was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he died from his injuries.

Clemons pleaded guilty to one count of Murder in the First Degree (Class “A-I” felony) for the crime. Today, he received an indeterminate sentence of 20 years to life in prison, which will run consecutive to his sentence for the murder of Felix Aguirre.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the highest sustainable charge in each indictment on August 11, 2022.

An 18-year-old male was also indicted for his alleged role in the C Street homicide. The case against the adolescent offender, who was 16-years-old at the time of the alleged crime, remains pending. He is scheduled to return before Judge Eagan on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. for motions.

DA Flynn commends Detectives Scott Malec and Mark White of the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work in these investigations.

The Liddell Street homicide case was prosecuted by Chief Gary W. Hackbush of the Homicide Unit. The C Street homicide case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Eugene T. Partridge, III of the Homicide Unit.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
