Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 19-year-old Kalik Harris of Buffalo pleaded guilty before Acting Erie County Court Judge James McLeod to Rape in the Third Degree. This is the highest charge for which he could have been convicted if the matter had gone to trial.

On July 10, 2016, the defendant, who was 17-years-old at the time of the incident, engaged in sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old female without her consent.

Harris faces a maximum of 4 years in prison when he is sentenced on Tuesday, August 21 at 9:30 a.m.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of Detective Joseph Paszkiewicz and Detective Melanie Janusz of the Buffalo Police Sex Offense Squad as well as the work of the medical professionals at Women and Children’s Hospital.

Assistant District Attorney Katharine S. Lavin of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau prosecuted the case.
