Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 64-year-old Thomas Marchese of Cheektowaga pleaded guilty before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth F. Case to Grand Larceny in the Third Degree for stealing $188,000 from an elderly neighbor.

From January 2012 to October 2016, the defendant had the victim write several checks that she believed were going toward her household expenses, but Marchese was cashing them for personal use.

Marchese faces up to 7 years in prison when he is sentenced by Judge Case on June 22, 2017 at 2 p.m.

DA Flynn commends Cheektowaga Police Detective James Genson for his thorough work on the investigation.

Chief Candace K. Vogel of the DA’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Bureau prosecuted the case.
