Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty, Jr. announces the arraignment this morning of 32-year-old Adam Fiegl of Orchard Park on drug and bribery charges before Buffalo City Court Judge Susan Eagan.

The jail deputy at the Erie County Holding Center is accused of accepting a $200 bribe to smuggle suboxone, an opioid drug into the jail. 

Fiegl has been charged with one count of Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree, one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree and one count of Bribe Receiving in the Third Degree. 

Fiegl was taken into custody on April 18, 2016 at the jail and a quantity of suboxone in a heat sealed plastic bag was recovered from the defendant's inside pocket.

Fiegl has been suspended from his job without pay pending an internal investigation.  Bail was set at $15,000.  Fiegl will be back in court April 22, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing in front of Judge Eagan.

As all persons accused of a crime, Fiegl is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
