Registered Sex Offender Pleads Guilty for Committing Sexual Assault

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 43-year-old Mark Trykowski of Kenmore pleaded guilty yesterday morning before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to one count of Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree (Class “B” violent felony). 

On Sunday, July 3, 2022, at approximately 6:40 p.m., the defendant forcibly engaged in sexual conduct with an adult female victim at a location in the City of Buffalo. The defendant was not known to the victim. After the attack, the victim was transported to ECMC where she underwent a rape kit. The defendant was linked to the crime through DNA and other evidence.

Trykowski, who was a registered sex offender at the time of the crime, faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. He continues to be held without bail.

District Attorney Flynn commends Detective Jennifer Vaccaro of the Buffalo Police Department, Erie County Central Police Services laboratory and the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners at ECMC for their work in this investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Andres D. Ortiz of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau.
