Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 19-year-old Vincent Manirakiza of Buffalo was arraigned this morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Phillip Dabney, Jr. on one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony) and one count of Burglary in the Second Degree (Class “B” violent felony).

It is alleged that on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at approximately 2:38 p.m., the defendant unlawfully entered a home on the 200 block of Koons Avenue in the City of Buffalo with the intent to commit a crime. It is alleged that during the commission of the crime, a 17-year-old female and a 19-year-old male were shot inside of the house.

The female victim died at the scene. The male victim was taken to ECMC where he remains hospitalized.

Due to the ongoing investigation, no further information will be released at this time.

Manirakiza is scheduled to return on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. He was held without bail.

If convicted of all charges, Manirakiza faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department for their work in this investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Chief Gary W. Hackbush of the Homicide Unit.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
