Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 36-year-old Timothy Kler of Town of Tonawanda pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a D felony.

Between January 1, 2017 and September 18, 2017, the defendant embezzled $19,486.01 while serving as treasurer of the River Road Volunteer Fire Company. The defendant pocketed cash from fundraisers and forged numerous checks.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the highest charge.

Kler faces a maximum of 7 years in prison when he is sentenced on Friday, May 25, 2018.

Assistant District Attorney Louis C. Mussari of the DA’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Bureau prosecuted the case.
