West Falls Man Sentenced for Raping Underage Victim

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 37-year-old Nicholas B. Turnquist of West Falls was sentenced this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges to 4 years in prison followed by 10 years of post-release supervision.

The defendant, being older than 21-years-old, engaged in sexual intercourse with a victim who was less than 17-years-old. The crime occurred at a location in the Town of Aurora in 2014.

Turnquist pleaded guilty to one count of Rape in the Third Degree (Class “E” felony) on November 21, 2022.

Today, a final order of protection was issued for the victim, which remains in effect until 2033.

DA Flynn commends Detective Darren Longboat of the East Aurora Police Department for his work in this investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine M. Garvey of the Felony Trials Bureau.
