Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 53-year-old Jose Eiras Oviedo pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class “B” felony.

On Thursday, August 15, 2019, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the defendant caused the death of his girlfriend, 57-year-old Alina Vega-Lantaron, by stabbing her during a domestic dispute inside the apartment that they shared on 15th Street in the City of Buffalo. The defendant also suffered a stab wound during the incident.

Eiras Oviedo faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. He remains held without bail.

DA Flynn commends Det. Terrance Supples of the Buffalo Police Department for his work in the investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine M. Garvey of the DA’s Homicide Bureau.
