Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announced that 31 year old James Griggs of 172 Hastings, Buffalo and 35 year old Jamar Maye of 272 Schuele, Buffalo pleaded guilty, as charged, before County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio to three counts of Robbery in the First Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. Griggs also pleaded guilty, as charged, to Assault in the First Degree. These are the highest charges for which the defendants could have been convicted had they gone to trial.

The defendants admitted that on October 8, 2012 they robbed money and cell phones, at gunpoint, from victims Jerry Mackey, Daniel Hernandez and Mahiri Jones. In addition, Griggs admitted that he shot Jones in the leg, causing life threatening injuries.

The case was successfully prosecuted by ADA Paul Williams.  Griggs and Maye each face a maximum prison sentence of 25 years when they are sentenced before the Hon. Sheila A. DiTullio on May 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
