Secures PPE for Charlotte Avenue playground project and Erie County Prime Time funding for Town & Village of Hamburg summer youth services

Hamburg, NY – Erie County Legislator John Gilmour joined volunteers from the community including Hamburg Town Board member Shawn Connolly to begin the new Charlotte Avenue playground project in the Village of Hamburg. Under the direction of Parkitects, Inc., the volunteer group began construction of new play equipment that will be free and open to the public.

Erie County Legislator John Gilmour, D-Hamburg, said, “It’s vitally important that our kids have a safe place to play outside, especially right now given what we know about transmission of the Coronavirus indoors. The Hamburg community is grateful to our village recreation department under the direction of Josh Haieck for all of the hard work they put into making this community welcoming to young families.”

The Legislature also approved immediate disbursement of Operation Prime Time funding for the Town and Village of Hamburg at their most recent session. This year, the Town will be receiving $9,000 and the Village will receive $7,500 for their summer programs which ensure school aged children have healthy, safe activities over the summer.
