Buffalo, NY – 1st District Legislator Howard J. Johnson Jr. is hosting a community Health Fair on Saturday, February 29th at the Pratt Willert Community Center located at 422 Pratt St in Buffalo, NY. Participants include You First Services, Windsong Radiology, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Fidelis, and many others.

A 2019 New York State Department of Health study identified a “cancer cluster” in Erie County that included much of Buffalo’s East Side. In the 2019 budget process, Erie County allotted $250,000 which was awarded to the University at Buffalo for cancer screening and prevention programs. Obesity, smoking, and inadequate access to healthy foods were all identified as the main risk factors.

“Given recent concerns highlighted by the New York State Department of Health over high incidences of cancer in this area, I am hoping this event encourages District 1 residents to make positive lifestyle changes and take part in valuable health screenings. I’m hopeful that in bringing all of these partners together, my constituents feel empowered to make healthy choices about their lifestyles,” said Legislator Johnson.

Mass Mutual and Key Bank will also be on site to offer additional information about financial planning. For more information, please contact Legislator Johnson’s office at 842-0490 or Rebecca at 858-8511. This event is free and open to the public.
