Erie County Legislator Joseph Lorigo announces that $26.8 million has been allocated for road and bridge projects. The funding was approved at the April 14, 2016 session and includes several projects in the district he represents.

“This package is a good start to addressing the infrastructure issues in Erie County. I am pleased to see that several major trouble spots are finally being repaired but as always, there is more work to be done. Hopefully the weather cooperates and crews can complete these projects efficiently and provide residents with safe and reliable roadways,” said Legislator Lorigo.

Projects included in the approved package include:

  • Gypsy Lane from 20A to Knox Road in Aurora
  • Knox Road from Seneca Street to Willardshire Road in Aurora
  • North Davis Road from Seneca Street to Willardshire Road in Aurora
  • Ward Road from Scherff Road to Cole Road Auora
  • Girdle Road from Clinton to Bullis in Elma
  • Rice Road from Bowen to Seneca in Elma
  • Slade Avenue from Ridge Road to Orchard Park Road in West Seneca
  • Ridge Road from Abbott to Slade in West Seneca

Legislator Lorigo will continue to update residents on the timeline for road work once start dates are scheduled. He reminds motorists to use caution in work zones, slow down and abide by all posted signage to keep crews safe.

He also reminds residents that both the Girdle Road Bridge and Jamison Road Bridge are closed. Detours are in place and motorists should expect the bridges to be closed until at least late summer as complete rebuilds are underway.
