Legislator Lorigo attends public information meeting on East and West Road repairs

Erie County Legislator Joe Lorigo attending a public meeting Tuesday night to receive an update on plans to repair East and West Road in the Town of West Seneca. Legislator Lorigo and county Department of Public Works officials facilitated the discussion along with town representatives.

The Department of Public Works has completed a preliminary design for the rehabilitation of East and West Road from Orchard Park Road (NY 240) to Leydecker Road. According to DPW, the project objectives are to address drainage deficiencies and improve the pavement conditions. The existing county drainage system, the large culvert just west of Union Road near Cove Creek Run, and a smaller culvert east of Angle Road near the entrance to the Children’s Psychiatric Center will be replaced. There is also a proposed 4 foot wide walking path along both sides of the road that up for discussion. Finally, the road will be milled and overlaid.

“I regularly hear from constituents regarding the status of East and West Road and share many of their concerns,” said Legislator Lorigo. “Fighting for safe, drivable roads and additional infrastructure improvements is a top priority of mine. After months of advocating for repairs and relaying these concerns to the county executive, I’m happy the town and department of public works could come together to move this project forward in 2019.”
