Legislature supports RecruitNY, recognizes importance of volunteer firefighters

Erie County Legislator Joseph Lorigo announces that the Legislature has approved a proclamation in support of the 6th annual RecruitNY, encouraging residents to consider joining their local fire company, which are in critical need of new members.

“The firefighting community in Erie County is truly incredible. We are fortunate to have so many men and women willing to commit themselves to respond to emergencies any time of day to help those in need. Through supporting RecruitNY, it is the Legislature’s hope that we can help raise awareness about the need for volunteers and see membership numbers rise. Anyone interested in joining their local fire company can learn more at events happening this weekend,” said Legislator Lorigo.

Legislator Lorigo is proud to support the fire departments in his district that are participating:

  • Blossom Fire Company, 1000 North Blossom Road, Elma, will host its event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23.
  • Colden Fire Company, 8448 Gutekunst Road, Colden, will welcome visitors from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 24.
