Erie County Legislator Joe Lorigo recently presented a proclamation to the owner of The Plant Shack in East Aurora, Rachel Stepien, recognizing her for her dedication to the community and environment.

Along with owning The Plant Shack, Stepien has donated money to Re-tree WNY to help with their mission of replacing trees lost from the 2006 October Storm and beyond. She isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty either—Stepien also plants trees with One Tree Planted, offers scholarships for local college students, and is a champion for the rescue and conservation efforts for pets and wildlife.

Along with her volunteer efforts, Rachel has built a successful business. The Plant Shack will be soon opening a second location in Lewiston.

Legislator Lorigo said, “Anyone looking to spruce up their home with some greenery should swing by The Plant Shack.  Rachel and her staff have provided a wonderful array of plants to choose from, and they can also answer all of your plant-related questions.   Thank you Rachel Stepien for your work building a successful business, and for adding so much to our community.”
