Nationally, Self-Help is being recognized as an important and integral part of the recovery program for consumers of mental health services. There is a growing acceptance and support among the mental health system and professionals regarding the value and need of peer run self-help groups for consumers. This is a direct result of consumer's representation, participation and perspectives within the mental health system.
