Outgoing Town of Cheektowaga Police Chief Honored by County Legislature Majority Leader
Erie County, NY - Erie County Legislator and Majority Leader Timothy Meyers, D- Cheektowaga, presented a proclamation to Chief David Zack at the Cheektowaga Police Station last week, commemorating and thanking him for his 33 years of service ensuring public safety in the town of Cheektowaga.
“While I am sad to see him go, I wish Chief Zack all the best in his new role as Chief of Police for the town of Asheville, North Carolina. The work he did establishing the Crisis Intervention Team in Erie County has dramatically improved the way local law enforcement officials handle mental health emergencies across Western New York. We are indebted to him for his strong leadership in this important area, “said Meyers.
Zack also served as President of the Erie County Chiefs of Police Association and the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police. The crisis intervention model he implemented while serving the Town of Cheektowaga was adopted by the Erie County Sheriff’s road patrol units and eventually used at the Erie County Holding Center.
