Erie County, NY – At the July 23rd session of the Erie County Legislature, Frank Swiatek of Cheektowaga was designated Citizen of the Month by Legislature Majority Leader Timothy Meyers. Swiatek had a long career in public service including 16 years as a town councilman and a 5 year stint as Cheektowaga Town Supervisor.
Frank Swiatek was a gifted athlete and a strong advocate for youth services in Cheektowaga. Having been inducted into four local “Hall of Fames”, Frank also served the Cheektowaga Youth Bureau as their chair for several years. Swiatek was equally active in the Polish American Community, having co-founded the Polish-American Arts Festival. His service to government also includes key roles on the Erie County Charter Review Commission and as an aide for Robert K. Kennedy’s presidential campaign in 1968.
Legislator Meyers, who represents Cheektowaga, said “Frank’s dedication to the Town of Cheektowaga and the people of Erie County made him an easy fit for this honor. He has always done his best to serve the people he was elected to and our community is better for it. Frank’s lasting impact is still felt today in the robust community programming the Town of Cheektowaga offers its residents.”
Swiatek was joined in the chambers by his family for the proclamation presentation, including his wife, Betty Ann and his son, Jeff.
