Erie County Department of Social Services will be available throughout South Buffalo, Kaisertown, Lovejoy, and Cheektowaga for local residents
Buffalo, NY- Erie County Legislator Timothy Meyers (D-Cheektowaga) is announcing multiple social service outreach events for Cheektowaga and the City of Buffalo.
The Erie County Department of Social Services will be on-site to provide information on numerous public benefit programs including income and eligibility requirements for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, and Daycare assistance. Staff will assist in filling out and filing applications during this event.
Dates and times are as follows:
Wednesday, October 16th - East Clinton Branch Library, 1929 Clinton St, Buffalo from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Tuesday, October 22nd - Dudley Branch Library, 2010 South Park Ave, Buffalo from 4 pm – 7 pm
Tuesday, October 22nd - Cheektowaga Town Hall, 3301 Broadway, Cheektowaga from 5 pm – 7 pm
Tuesday, November 12th - Dudley Branch Library, 2010 South Park Ave, Buffalo from 4 pm – 7 pm
Tuesday, November 26th - Cheektowaga Town Hall, 3301 Broadway, Cheektowaga from 5 pm – 7 pm
Tuesday, December 10th - Dudley Branch Library, 2010 South Park Ave, Buffalo from 4 pm – 7 pm
Monday, December 30th - Cheektowaga Town Hall, 3301 Broadway, Cheektowaga from 5 pm – 7 pm
Any interested applicants are advised to check documentation requirements on the Erie County Department of Social Services website at www.erie.gov/socialservices or call Matt Wrobel at Legislator Meyers’ District office for specific information at 833-3054 from 9 am -5 pm.
General HEAP applicants are required to bring the following documentation for verification:
- One (1) form of identification for all household members (Birth Certificates, License, Social Security Card)
- Proof of income received within the last 30 days for all household members (Pay Stubs, Social Security or Pension Award letters, Proof of Child Support, Rental Income, Unemployment Benefits, Worker’s Compensation, Etc.)
- Current heat and electric bills including current shut off or disconnect notices, if applicable
Please note, additional outreach is still scheduled for the first and third Thursday of every month via the Matt Urban Center at Autumnwood Senior Center located at 1800 Clinton St in Buffalo.
