Legislator Mills’ Orchard Park Hot Dog Roast Fundraiser breaks library’s record

In its sixth year, Legislator John J. Mills’ Orchard Park Library’s Hot Dog Roast Fundraiser sold out and broke the record set last year for money raised. In total, the Aug. 17, 2012 event raised $1,209 to support the library’s ongoing efforts to provide quality programming and materials to patrons.

“I am excited and pleased to present this donation to the library,” Legislator Mills said during a presentation held at the library recently. “It was a tremendous afternoon, obviously very well attended as we sold out and raised a significant amount for the library. I want to thank Library Director Peggy Errington, the volunteers and of course the community for supporting this great event.”

Orchard Park’s fundraising total has more than doubled since the first roast held in 2007. Using a portion of his salary, Legislator Mills hosts a fundraiser at each of the libraries in his district and donates 100 percent of the proceeds to the host library. He has raised approximately $30,000 in six years.
