Legislator Mills announces free rabies clinic will be held Tuesday, May 22

Erie County Legislator John J. Mills encourages pet owners to take advantage of the County’s free rabies clinic for dogs, cats, and ferrets on May 22.

Organized by the Erie County Department of Health, in partnership with the Niagara Frontier Veterinary Society and the SPCA, serving Erie County, the clinic is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, at the Springville Fire Company, 405 W. Main St., Springville.

“This is a free service provided by the County and designed to keep both pets and residents safe. All pet owners are encouraged bring their cat, dog or ferret to the clinic to receive the rabies vaccination,” Legislator Mills said. “By participating, you can help protect our community against a rabies outbreak.”

The following requirements must be met in order to receive the rabies vaccination:

  • Pets must be at least 3 months old.
  • Proof of previous rabies vaccination must be provided to receive a three-year certificate; otherwise a one-year certificate will be issued.
  • All dogs, cats and ferrets must be restrained using a leash and/or pet carrier.
  • No person shall be allowed to have more than three (3) pets in line at one time.
