Legislator Mills announces funding for Orchard Park Veterans Memorial Park

Erie County Legislator John Mills has secured $3,000 for the Orchard Park Veterans Memorial Park Committee to be used for the Memorial Wall. The funding was approved at the annual budget meeting on Dec. 6, 2016.

“The Committee and its supporters have been working extremely hard to raise the necessary funds to create a fitting tribute for veterans, and I am pleased the county was able to support this effort. I look forward to seeing the Memorial Wall when it is completed,” said Legislator Mills.

“The Orchard Park Veterans Memorial Park Committee is very pleased with the donation of $3,000 towards our project.  We are working to complete the Memorial Wall, and will then utilize this specific funding for Phase II, which will include three flag poles, installation of pavers approaching the wall, a walkway, lighting and landscaping. Our goal is $200,000 and this will help us in completing this special project for our veterans. Thank you to Legislator Mills on behalf of the Veterans Memorial Park Committee in Orchard Park,” said John Schroeder, Committee Chairman.

The funding was added into the 2017 budget without raising the bottom line, in fact the Legislature lowered the property tax rate. The Legislators encourage the County Executive to support the funding.
