The Erie County Legislature unanimously approved funding that will benefit summer youth and recreation programs throughout the county including a number of organizations in Legislator John Mills’ district.
Funding was secured for the following groups:
- Boys and Girls Club of Eden- $7,500
- Boys and Girls Club of Orchard Park- $10,000
- Blossom Gardens School- $5,000
- Cornell Cooperative Extension- $10,000
“I proudly support additional summer funding to assist these organizations that serve children and the community,” said Legislator Mills. “Many of these recreational programs provide a fun, safe environment for kids to stay active and continue learning during the summer months.”
“The Boys and Girls Club of Eden is extremely thankful for the financial support that Legislator Mills is able to secure on our behalf for summer primetime programming for the youth members who need us the most,” said Unit Director Julia Aleksandrowicz. “A good number of the youth that we serve would not have the opportunity to participate in our summer program opportunities without the support of Erie County. Legislator Mills’ passion and dedication enable our staff to have a positive impact on the lives of the youth members that we serve. Thank you Legislator John Mills for being an incredible difference-maker.”
A special thank you to the County of Erie and Legislator Mills for primetime funding to support the Boys & Girls Clubs critical Youth Development Programming Summer Initiatives," said William R. Gehen Jr, Executive Director Boys & Girls Club of Orchard Park.
Determination of Summer Primetime funding is coordinated through the Department of Social Services and the final proposal is requested by the County Executive’s office. For a list of all organizations receiving funding in 2018, click here.
