Erie County Legislator John Mills is announcing an upcoming household hazardous waste collection event coordinated by the Erie County Department of Environment and Planning.
The event will take place Saturday, June 27 from 8am-1pm. Appointments must be made beforehand and the exact location will be shared once an appointment is made. Those who wish to drop items off should contact 716-858-6800 or visit www.erie.gov/recycling.
Legislator Mills said, “I am glad the County is able to schedule these collection sites and encourage residents to take advantage of this free service. Appointments can fill up quickly, so I encourage everyone to reach out to schedule as soon as possible.”
The following items will be accepted:
Automotive:
- waste automotive fluids
- gasoline
- antifreeze
- brake & transmission fluids
Paints, Solvents, etc.:
- oil-based paints,
- paint strippers and thinners
- spray paints
- kerosene & other solvents
Pesticides, chemicals, etc.:
- pesticides
- fertilizers
- pool chemicals
- mercury and mercury containing devices such as thermometers or thermostats
- small propane cylinders (1 lb. camping)
