Erie County Legislator John Mills recently presented Marian Louise (Rucker) Williams a proclamation to honor, celebrate and recognize her 100th birthday.

Marian was born in 1921, graduated in 1941 from Hamburg High School and went on to work in sales at J.N. Adams Company in Buffalo and for several decades worked as secretary at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and at John Hancock Insurance Company.

Marian met Le Ray Williams in 1941 and the couple married in 1943—raised four children and were blessed with eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and were married for 65 years until Mr. Williams’ death in 1999.

Marian currently lives in the Town of Boston where she has resided for nearly 100 years and is active in her church, plays golf, cooks, drives, entertains, gardens and continues to live life to the fullest. She credits her long and healthy life to her strong Christian faith, exercise, hard work, clean living and an occasional Rob Roy cocktail.

Legislator Mills said, “Happy 100th birthday to Marian Louise (Rucker) Williams! What a momentous occasion that needs to be celebrated to the fullest. Her healthy and active lifestyle is an inspiration to everyone around her. I wish Marian nothing but happiness and health in the years to come!”
