Senior Services promotes the goals to keep older adults active, healthy, independent, and living lives of dignity. Luckily, there is a variety of housing options and services (see block at left) that can allow this.

While the Department cannot recommend one particular location or provider over another, we do maintain lists and a case manager may be available to discuss the advantages and differences of various options.

If you are in a nursing home, or considering one, please read about the NYS Long Term Care Ombudsman Program.

If you think some assistance is needed for you to remain independent in your own home, call our case managers - perhaps grocery delivery or chore service is available in your neighborhood, or maybe you qualify for SNAP/Food Stamps to help free up some extra money. Additionally, HEAP might be available to help stretch those heating dollars.

The Caregiver Resource Center has helpful hints and information about products that might make your home more "user-friendly" when dealing with caregiving or dementia situations.

We want to help you - just call (716) 858-8526.
