Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro recently broke ground on construction of the Lancaster Village Center which is a three-phrase development that will begin with a new shopping and residential building. The new, $12 million development will be built on West Main Street as an addition to the Central Avenue Business District.
Phase one construction consists of a 27,000-square-foot building that will be home to six retail tenants on the first floor and residents in 18 apartments on the second and third floors. Retail spaces will be home to: All Is One Gifts, Bathe Store, Gabriel’s Bakery, Lancaster Story House, 716 Sports Apparel and Wine Bar.
Phase one construction is expected to be completed by early 2022. Additional phases include plans for 31 additional apartments, a restaurant and ice cream shop, more retail, a walkable park along Cayuga Creek that features a sculpture pad and rain garden. When complete, the Lancaster Village Center will take over 4.3 acres.
Legislator Todaro said, “This is an absolutely incredible project that will completely transform West Main Street and the Central Avenue Business District. This means more space for small businesses to expand and take their hard work to the next level and it means more residential space for people to call Lancaster home. I am looking forward to watching the Lancaster Village Center take shape in the months to come.”
